“So what do you do?”
“I’m…” Obsessed with writing. When I’m not in front of the computer, I’m thinking of stories. I love cycling among other reasons because it leaves my mind free to unpick plot knots.
“I, er…” Always have a notebook nearby. I once stopped in the middle of a shopping expedition to frantically jot down a plot outline on the back of the shopping list.
“Iiiii’m…” Passionate about words. Looking something up in a dictionary is dangerous for me, as I get lost in all the wonderful words in there, often forgetting what I looked for in the first place. I get seriously worked up when I see spelling and grammar mistakes on places like sign boards. I once considered picking off a misplaced apostrophe from a signboard I had to stare at for half an hour while having a cup of tea.
“I’m a…” Person who has spent hours and hours and days and weeks and months toiling away, learning the craft, having my soul slashed to ribbons by critiques and painfully stitching it back together.
“I’m a writer.”
At least, I think so.
