How not to evengelise to an atheist: amazing ancient Chinese treasure ships

One of the objections Bible skeptics raise against the Genesis account concerns the feasibility of constructing such a large wooden vessel as Noah’s ark….there have been huge wooden ships in the past, such as the 130m long Egyptian warship built by Ptolemy Philopator (c. 244 – 205 [BCE]).

Furthermore, the size of some of the vessels constructed of wood (teak and bamboo) that the 15th century Chineese imperial fleet used for long sea voyages confirms that shipbuilders had mastered advanced techniques at that time.

From Creation Magazine, Vol. 37 Issue 1, January 2015

Hmmm. Creationist date for the flood: 2348 BCE. Date given in article for the Egyptian big wooden boat: 244 – 205 BCE. Date given for the focus of the article: 1405 – 1433 CE.

The examples of big boat building are respectively about 2100 and 3748 after the date claimed by creationists for the great flood. That… that’s not exactly a contemporary example. Try again.
